Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 91.7% To 4,095, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 2.6 Times To 285 On May 17

On May 17, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 4,095 over May 16 to 2,160,095, and the number of deaths increased by 285 over May 16 to 48,469; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 91.7%, and the number of new lethal cases rose 2.6 times.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of May 18, a total of 2,160,095 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 48,469 fatal cases; 1,882,344 people had recovered.

On May 17, a total of 4,095 new disease cases were recorded, 285 people died, and 17,751 people recovered.

Therefore, as of May 17, the number of newly infected people was lower than that of those who recovered (4,095 vs 17,751).

As of the morning of May 18, the overall number of currently coronavirus-infected people in Ukraine was 229,282, down 5.7% over May 17.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (202,417), Kharkiv region (143,575), and Odesa region (138,065).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 133,422 coronavirus infection cases, Dnipropetrovsk region – 129,421; Kyiv region – 122,471 cases, Zaporizhia region – 100,344, Khmelnytskyi region – 86,702, Zhytomyr region – 86,539, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 85,374, Cherkasy region - 79,218, Chernivtsi region – 78,506, Rivne region – 76,139, and Poltava region – 75,724.

A total of 75,671 cases have been registered in Sumy region, 69,567 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 68,454 cases - in Ternopil region, 66,515 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 61,017 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 59,880 cases – in Volyn region, 55,687 cases – in Chernihiv region, 33,408 – in Kherson region, 25,396 – in Luhansk region, and 19,734 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 16, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 2,136 over May 15 to 2,156,000, and the number of deaths increased by 109 over May 15 to 48,184; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 41%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 18%.

On May 15, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 3,620 over May 14 to 2,153,864, and the number of deaths increased by 133 over May 14 to 48,075; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 46.7%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 58.7%.
