State Commission On Technogenic And Environmental Safety And Emergencies Transfers Sumy Region From "Red" To "Yellow" Epidemiological Zone From May 8

The State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies has transferred Sumy region from the "red" to the "yellow" zone of epidemic danger from May 8.

The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov announced this on his Telegram channel following the results of the commission meeting, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Based on the results (of the meeting), the State Commission decided to cancel the "red" level of the epidemic danger of the spread of COVID-19 in Sumy region from 00:00 on May 8," he wrote.

The State Commission decided to apply restrictive anti-epidemic measures on the territory of Sumy region provided for the "yellow" level of epidemic danger.

Sumy region was the last region that was in the "red" zone of epidemic danger.

During the period from February 26 to May 7, 14 regions and the city of Kyiv fell into the "red" zone of epidemic danger.

According to Deputy Minister of Health – Senior Medical Officer Viktor Liashko, thanks to the adaptive quarantine system, 10 more regions were able to pass this period without severe restrictions of the "red" level.

The average amount of the region's stay in the "red" zone of epidemic danger is 37 days.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies transferred Zaporizhia and Poltava regions from the "red" to the "yellow" epidemiological zone from May 7.
