Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 2.3 Times To 6,038, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 2.3 Times To 374 On May 5

On May 5, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 6,038 over May 4 to 2,097,024, and the number of deaths increased by 374 over May 4 to 45,451; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 2.3 times, and the number of new lethal cases increased by 2.3 times.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of May 6, a total of 2,097,024 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 45,451 fatal cases; 1,711,709 people had recovered.

On May 5, a total of 6,038 new disease cases were recorded, 374 people died, and 14,351 people recovered.

Therefore, as of May 5, the number of newly infected people was lower than that of those who recovered (6,038 vs 14,351).

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (197,357), Kharkiv region (138,407), and Odesa region (135,580).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 130,580 coronavirus infection cases, Dnipropetrovsk region – 124,040; Kyiv region – 119,614 cases, Zaporizhia region – 97,244, Zhytomyr region – 84,925, Khmelnytskyi region – 84,510, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 84,195, Donetsk region - 81,994, Chernivtsi region – 77,566, Cherkasy region – 76,259, Sumy region – 73,574, and Poltava region – 72,909.

A total of 72,579 cases have been registered in Rivne region, 68,386 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 66,852 cases - in Ternopil region, 64,119 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 60,252 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 57,974 cases – in Volyn region, 53,960 cases – in Chernihiv region, 31,723 – in Kherson region, 23,988 – in Luhansk region, and 18,751 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 4, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 2,576 over May 3 to 2,090,986, and the number of deaths increased by 161 over May 3 to 45,077; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 4.2%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 3%.
