The Cabinet of Ministers terminated powers of the members of the supervisory board of the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company and appointed Yurii Vitrenko, Acting Energy Minister, as supervisory board chairperson of the company.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from a statement on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to it, on April 28, a report on the activities of Naftogaz in 2020 was considered, and according to the results of the meeting of the general meeting of shareholders, the work of the supervisory board and the board of Naftogaz was recognized as unsatisfactory.

"From April 28, the powers of independent members of the supervisory board of Naftogaz, representatives of the state in the supervisory board of Naftogaz, as well as the chairperson of the board Kobolev are terminated ... It was also decided to elect and appoint Vitrenko as board chairperson of the company from April 29," the statement reads.

It is noted that Vitrenko was tasked with a systemic increase in Ukrainian gas production, as well as assistance in the formation of a full-fledged and fair gas market in Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Member of Parliament Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk (Servant of the People faction) stated that the Cabinet of Ministers had dismissed Andrii Kobolev, board chairperson of the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company.

In 2020, the group of the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company suffered a net loss of UAH 19.002 billion.

In March 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers agreed to extend the contract of Andrii Kobolev, board chairperson of the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company, until March 22, 2024.
