Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 36% To 12,162, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 16.9% To 429 On April 20

On April 20, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 12,162 over April 19 to 1,974,118, and the number of deaths increased by 429 over April 19 to 40,796; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 36%, and the number of new lethal cases rose by 16.9%.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of April 21, a total of 1,974,118 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 40,796 fatal cases; 1,514,472 people had recovered.

On April 20, a total of 12,162 new disease cases were recorded, 429 people died, and 14,720 people recovered.

Therefore, as of April 20, the number of newly-infected people was lower than that of those who recovered (14,720 vs 12,162).

The number of coronavirus-infected people as of the morning of April 21 was 418,850, down 0.7% over April 20.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (187,196), Odesa region (128,288), and Kharkiv region (127,803).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 124,366 coronavirus infection cases, Kyiv region – 113,663; Dnipropetrovsk region – 112,926 cases, Zaporizhia region – 90,981, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 82,847, Zhytomyr region – 81,518, Khmelnytskyi region – 79,571, Chernivtsi region - 75,772, Donetsk region – 73,603, Cherkasy region – 70,260, Sumy region – 69,504, and Rivne region – 67,838.

A total of 67,060 cases have been registered in Poltava region, 65,756 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 63,667 cases - in Ternopil region, 60,086 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 58,989 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 54,282 cases – in Volyn region, 50,796 cases – in Chernihiv region, 29,231 – in Kherson region, 21,579 – in Luhansk region, and 16,536 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a total of 66,521 cases have been registered in Poltava region, 65,429 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 63,398 cases - in Ternopil region, 59,689 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 58,885 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 53,900 cases – in Volyn region, 50,657 cases – in Chernihiv region, 29,060 – in Kherson region, 21,243 – in Luhansk region, and 16,410 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

On April 18, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 6,506 over April 17 to 1,953,016, and the number of deaths increased by 214 over April 17 to 40,000; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 36.7%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 14.4%.
