Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 37.4% To 8,940, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 71.5% To 367 On April 19

On April 19, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 8,940 over April 18 to 1,961,956, and the number of deaths increased by 367 over April 18 to 40,367; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 37.4%, and the number of new lethal cases rose by 71.5%.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of April 20, a total of 1,961,956 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 40,367 fatal cases; 1,499,752 people had recovered.

On April 19, a total of 8,940 new disease cases were recorded, 367 people died, and 12,075 people recovered.

Therefore, as of April 19, the number of newly-infected people was lower than that of those who recovered (8,940 vs 12,075).

The number of coronavirus-infected people as of the morning of April 20 was 421,837, down 0.8% over April 19.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (186,231), Odesa region (127,915), and Kharkiv region (126,865).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 123,874 coronavirus infection cases, Kyiv region – 112,782; Dnipropetrovsk region – 112,155 cases, Zaporizhia region – 90,136, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 82,741, Zhytomyr region – 81,242, Khmelnytskyi region – 78,854, Chernivtsi region - 75,570, Donetsk region – 72,868, Cherkasy region – 69,638, Sumy region – 69,067, and Rivne region – 67,222.

A total of 66,521 cases have been registered in Poltava region, 65,429 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 63,398 cases - in Ternopil region, 59,689 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 58,885 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 53,900 cases – in Volyn region, 50,657 cases – in Chernihiv region, 29,060 – in Kherson region, 21,243 – in Luhansk region, and 16,410 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 18, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 6,506 over April 17 to 1,953,016, and the number of deaths increased by 214 over April 17 to 40,000; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 36.7%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 14.4%.

On April 17, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 10,282 over April 16 to 1,946,510, and the number of deaths increased by 250 over April 16 to 39,786; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 14.3%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 43.2%.
