Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 27.2% To 15,053, Number Of New Lethal Cases Down 7.6% To 267 On March 17

On March 17, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 15,053 over March 16 to 1,504,076, and the number of deaths increased by 267 over March 16 to 29,253; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 27.2%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 7.6%.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of March 18, a total of 1,504,076 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 29,253 fatal cases; 1,244,190 people had recovered.

On March 17, a total of 15,053 new disease cases were recorded, 267 people died, and 6,514 people recovered.

Therefore, as of March 17, the number of newly-infected people was higher than that of those who recovered (15,053 vs. 6,514).

The number of coronavirus-infected people as of the morning of March 18 was 230,633, up 3.7% over March 17.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (149,923), Odesa region (94,872), and Kharkiv region (92,242).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 90,100 coronavirus infection cases, Kyiv region – 84,467; Dnipropetrovsk region – 80,874 cases, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 74,693, Zaporizhia region – 73,093, Chernivtsi region – 64,014, Zhytomyr region – 62,203, Khmelnytskyi region - 54,616, Rivne region – 52,374, Sumy region – 51,974, Cherkasy region – 51,935, and Donetsk region – 51,935.

A total of 49,560 cases have been registered in Poltava region, 48,933 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 48,814 cases - in Vinnytsia region, 48,134 cases - in Ternopil region, 47,094 cases – in Mykolayiv region, 43,258 cases – in Volyn region, 38,299 cases – in Chernihiv region, 22,547 – in Kherson region, 15,920 – in Luhansk region, and 11,640 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 16, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 11,933 over March 15 to 1,489,023, and the number of deaths increased by 289 over March 15 to 28,986; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 22.7%, and the number of new lethal cases increased by 9.5%.

On March 15, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 9,642 over March 14 to 1,477,190, and the number of deaths increased by 264 over March 14 to 28,697; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 42%, and the number of new lethal cases rose twice.
