Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 22.7% To 11,933, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 9.5% To 289 On March 16

On March 16, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 11,933 over March 15 to 1,489,023, and the number of deaths increased by 289 over March 15 to 28,986; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 22.7%, and the number of new lethal cases increased by 9.5%.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of March 17, a total of 1,489,023 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 28,986 fatal cases; 1,237,676 people had recovered.

On March 16, a total of 11,933 new disease cases were recorded, 289 people died, and 5,467 people recovered.

Therefore, as of March 16, the number of newly-infected people was higher than that of those who recovered (11,933 vs. 5,467).

The number of coronavirus-infected people as of the morning of March 17 was 222,361, up 2.8% over March 16.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (148,931), Odesa region (93,875), and Kharkiv region (91,510).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 89,008 coronavirus infection cases, Kyiv region – 83,740; Dnipropetrovsk region – 80,219 cases, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 74,134, Zaporizhia region – 72,665, Chernivtsi region – 63,418, Zhytomyr region – 60,805, Khmelnytskyi region - 53,816, Rivne region – 52,107, Sumy region – 51,804, Cherkasy region – 51,607, and Donetsk region – 51,284.

A total of 49,166 cases have been registered in Poltava region, 48,319 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 48,063 cases - in Vinnytsia region, 47,442 cases - in Ternopil region, 46,670 cases – in Mykolayiv region, 42,928 cases – in Volyn region, 37,824 cases – in Chernihiv region, 22,451 – in Kherson region, 15,846 – in Luhansk region, and 11,491 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 15, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 9,642 over March 14 to 1,477,190, and the number of deaths increased by 264 over March 14 to 28,697; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 42%, and the number of new lethal cases rose twice.

On March 14, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 6,792 over March 13 to 1,467,548, and the number of deaths increased by 130 over March 13 to 28,433; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 24.6%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 10.3%.
