Health Ministry To Start Coronavirus Vaccination On February 24

The Ministry of Health plans to start vaccination against the coronavirus on February 24, as soon as the first vaccines arrive in the regions.

Deputy Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor Viktor Liashko announced this during a briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Tomorrow, in the morning, 11 vehicles will go on a journey and deliver the vaccine to the regional warehouses... Vaccination begins after the delivery of the vaccine," he said.

Liashko clarified that at the moment the vaccine has been delivered to the Ukrprompostach warehouse, where the incoming control of the drug is taking place.

The vaccine will then be delivered to the first six regions in warehouses, from where mobile teams will transport it directly to healthcare facilities.

It is noted that syringes, boxes for safe disposal of syringes, informed consent for vaccination and information materials will be issued along with vaccines.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 23, a plane with 500,000 doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca (CoviShield) coronavirus vaccine landed in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Health has registered the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for emergency medical use.

Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Vinnytsia regions and Kyiv will be the first to receive the coronavirus vaccine.
