On February 18, Ukraine increased imports of electricity from Russia and Belarus by 1.9% to 17.133 million kWh compared to the previous day.

This is evidenced by data on the website of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to them, during the specified period, imports from Russia decreased by 2% to 4.35 million kWh of electricity.

In turn, on February 17, the import of electricity from Belarus increased by 3.3% to 12.78 million kWh.

This volume of electricity imports from Russia and Belarus is about 3.9% of the total average daily electricity consumption.

On February 18, the average air temperature in Ukraine was -9 degrees.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Provisional Energy Minister Yurii Vitrenko said that in order to stop the import of electricity from Russia and Belarus, the Unified Energy System (UES) of Ukraine must be synchronized with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E).

The Ministry of Energy intends to synchronize the UES of Ukraine with ENTSO-E in 2023.

Vitrenko also advocates a reasonable restriction of electricity imports from Russia and Belarus.
