Number Of PCR-Tests Down 46.8% To 10,401, Number Of ELISA Down Thrice To 2,846 On January 17 – Health Ministry

On January 17, a total of 10,401 polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) were conducted, down 46.8% over January 16; and the number of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) decreased thrice over January 16 to 2,846.

The Health Ministry has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Since the start of the year, a total of 5,964,388 polymerase chain reaction tests have been conducted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 16, a total of 19,548 polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) were conducted, down 33.4% over January 15; and the number of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) decreased 56.4% over January 15 to 8,427.

On January 17, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 3,034 over January 16 to 1,163,716, and the number of deaths increased by 67 over January 16 to 20,869; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 49.4%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 42.2%.

According to the report, as at the morning of January 18, there were 1,163,716 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine, the number included 20,869 lethal cases; besides, 871,196 people had recovered.

On January 17, a total of 3,034 new cases of the disease were recorded, 67 people died, and 5,236 people recovered.

Therefore, as at January 17, the indicator of newly-infected people was higher than the number of those, who recovered (5,236 vs 3,034).

As at the morning of January 18, the overall number of those, who are staying ill with the Covid-19 (less the recovered and died) made 271,651, down 0.8% over January 17.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (122,997), Odesa region (78,557), and Kharkiv region (74,796).
