Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 29.6% To 6,911, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 12.9% To 228 On January 5

On January 5, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 6,911 over January 4 to 1,090,496, and the number of deaths increased by 228 over January 4 to 19,357; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 29.6%, and the number of new lethal cases rose 12.9%.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as at the morning of January 6, there were 1,090,496 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine, the number included 19,357 lethal cases; besides, 761,898 people had recovered.

On January 5, a total of 6,911 new cases of the disease were recorded, 228 people died, and 14,490 people recovered.

Therefore, as at January 5, the indicator of newly-infected people was lower than the number of those, who recovered (6,911 vs 14,490).

As at the morning of January 6, the overall number of those, who are staying ill with the Covid-19 (less the recovered and died) made 309,241, down 2.5% over January 5.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (115,300), Odesa region (73,950), and Kharkiv region (71,213).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 63,610 coronavirus infection cases, Kyiv region – 61,704; Dnipropetrovsk region – 60,476 cases, Zaporizhia region – 56,586, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 43,873, Rivne region – 42,012, Sumy region – 41,710, Chernivtsi region - 40,903, Cherkasy region – 40,746, Khmelnytskyi region – 40,263, and Donetsk region – 38,088.

A total of 37,884 cases have been registered in Poltava region, 34,620 cases – in Ternopil region, 33,709 cases - in Volyn region, 32,680 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 30,672 cases – in Chernihiv region, 28,676 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 23,155 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 18,435 cases – in Kherson region, 11,240 – in Luhansk region, and 8,663 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 4, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 5,334 over January 3 to 1,083,585, and the number of deaths increased by 202 over January 3 to 19,129; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 28.3%, and the number of new lethal cases rose 2.7 times.

On January 3, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 4,158 over January 2 to 1,078,251, and the number of deaths increased by 73 over January 2 to 18,927; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 9.1%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 40.7%.
