Number Of PCR-Tests Up 2.2% To 42,132, Number Of ELISA Up 19.8% To 24,226 On December 23 – Health Ministry

On December 23, a total of 42,132 polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) were conducted, up 2.2% over December 22; and the number of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) increased 19.8% over December 22 to 24,226.

Health Ministry has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Since the start of the year, a total of 5,390,952 polymerase chain reaction tests have been conducted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 22, a total of 41,219 polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) were conducted, up 56.5% over December 21; and the number of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) decreased 0.6% over December 21 to 20,226.

On December 23, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 11,490 over December 22 to 1,001,132, and the number of deaths increased by 223 over December 22 to 17,395; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 13.4%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 18.9%.

According to the report, as at the morning of December 24, there were 1,001,132 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine, the number included 17,395 lethal cases; besides, 631,435 people had recovered.

On December 23, a total of 11,490 new cases of the disease were recorded, 223 people died, and 15,775 people recovered.

Therefore, as at December 23, the indicator of newly-infected people was lower than the number of those, who recovered (11,490 vs 15,775).

The number of the active sick (only those sick) as at the morning of December 24, made 352,302 people, down 1.3% day over day.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (105,040), Odesa region (66,971), and Kharkiv region (66,788).
