Ukrainian Vaccine Development Might Be Completed In A Year – Stepanov

Health Minister, Maksym Stepanov, considers that the development of a Ukrainian anti-Covid-19 vaccine is likely to be completed in a year.

The minister has said this at a briefing, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Stepanov states that the development of a Ukrainian vaccine will cost over UAH 100 million and the state is ready to support its production.

On October 25, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine increased by 5,426 over October 24 to 348,924, and the number of deaths rose by 73 over October 24 to 6,464; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 10.9%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 28.4%.

According to the report, as at the morning of October 26, there were 348,924 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine, the number included 6,464 lethal cases; besides, 142,537 people had recovered.

During the day, 5,426 new cases of the disease were recorded, 1,029 people recovered, 73 people died.

Therefore, on October 25, the indicator of newly-infected people was higher than the number of those, who recovered (5,426 vs 1,029).

As at the morning of October 26, the number of the active sick (less those, who have recovered and died) was 199,923, up 2.2% day over day.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (34,362), Kharkiv region (33,250), and Lviv region (27,608).

Besides, Odesa region has registered a total of 22,179 coronavirus infection cases, Chernivtsi region – 19,728; Ternopil region – 19,261 cases, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 18,590, Rivne region – 17,730, Kyiv region – 14,845, in Khmelnytskyi region – 13,482, Zakarpattia region – 13,144, Dnipropetrovsk region – 13,144, Zhytomyr region – 12,533, Volyn region – 12,403, and Sumy region – 10,605 cases.

A total of 9,401 cases have been recorded in Vinnytsia region, 8,701 cases – in Donetsk region, 8,147 cases - in Cherkasy region, 8,132 cases - in Zaporizhia region, 8,056 cases – in Poltava region, 7,971 cases – in Chernihiv region, 7,069 cases – in Mykolayiv region, 3,236 cases – in Kherson region, 3,233 cases – in Luhansk region, and 2,114 cases – in Kirovohrad region.
