Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport Cancels Flights To Warsaw, Odesa And Izmir Due To Heavy Fog

Igor Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport has canceled flights to Warsaw (Poland, the flight of the airline WizzAir, LOT), Odesa (Motor Sich) and Izmir (Turkey, Pegasus) due to heavy fog in the capital.

The airport has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the statement, flights to Vienna (WizzAir), Baku (Azerbaijan, Buta), Rome (Italy, Ernest), Frankfurt (Germany, WizzAir), Amman (Jordan, Jordan) and flights from Vienna (Austria), Minsk (Belarus) and Hannover (Germany) are delayed as well.

The WizzAir airplanes from Warsaw, Wroclaw (Poland) and Berlin (Germany), as well as Belavia from Minsk, landed on the alternate airfield in Boryspil.

Passengers of canceled flights will be provided with food and hotel if necessary.

It is noted that the visibility as of 3 p.m. was 300-550 meters.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the State Emergency Service warns of fog in most parts of Ukraine on February 1.

The airport is located within the city limits, 8 km from the center, covers an area of ​​265 hectares, has one runway with a length of 2,310 meters and a width of 45 meters.
