Budget Receipts From Customs Clearance Of Cars With Foreign Registration Amounts To UAH 4.1 Billion

The Ministry of Finance states budget receipts of UAH 4.1 billion from customs clearance of cars with foreign registration.

The Ministry of Finance said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

From November 25, 2018 to January 31, 2019 citizens carried out customs clearance of 65,142 vehicles with foreign registration, which were imported into the customs territory of Ukraine from January 1, 2015 before the entry into force of new rules for the importation of such vehicles and are in customs regimes of temporary import or transit.

The total budget receipts from customs clearance of cars with foreign registration amounted to UAH 4.1 billion (of which UAH 381.7 million accounted for the duty, UAH 1.242 billion - VAT, UAH 2.013 billion - excise tax, UAH 467 million - funds that were voluntarily paid by citizens to the state budget for exemption from administrative responsibility for violation of customs regimes).

All customs payments that come from the registration of cars with foreign registration in 2019 are sent to the Pension Fund.

According to the customs statistics, given the approaching end of the term of the grace period for the use of the excise tax rate for customs clearance of cars with foreign registration, citizens have become more active in legalizing them.

During the last week a day, on average, 3,000 vehicles were customs cleared.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 22, 2019, the grace period for applying the excise tax rate (ratio 0.5) for customs clearance of cars with foreign registration expires.

After this time, the owners of such cars will pay excise tax at full rate.
