NOTU Board Chairperson Alasania To File Court Appeal Against Supervisory Board’s Decision To Terminate His Contract

Zurab Alasania, the chairman of the board of directors of the National Public Television Company of Ukraine (NOTU), intends to challenge the NOTU supervisory board’s decision to terminate his contract in court.

Alasania announced this in an interview with the Babel online publication, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

“Yes, I think we will challenge this decision in court because all the existing procedures were violated,” Alasania said.

He believes that all the members of NOTU’s board of directors will also leave their posts if he is dismissed.

Alasania also denied claims by supervisory board member Oleksandr Pavlichenko that the decision to terminate his contract was influenced by the audit of a charity fund operated by NOTU.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, NOTU’s supervisory board terminated Alasania’s contract on January 31.

According to media reports and Alasania himself, the issue of resignation of the board of directors was not on the agenda of the supervisory board’s meeting.

Nine of the 12 members of the supervisory board supported the decision to terminate Alasania’s contract.

Chairperson of the NOTU supervisory board Tetiana Lebedeva refused to comment on the situation to journalists.
