European Commission Deputy Director General Mathernová: EU Ready To Provide EUR 54 Million For Financing Energy Efficiency Fund’s Programs

The European Union is ready to provide a second tranche of EUR 54 million for financing the state-owned Energy Efficiency Fund’s programs.

The European Commission’s Deputy Director General Katarína Mathernová announced this at a news briefing, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The European Union is ready to provide a second tranche of financial assistance totaling EUR 54 million for supporting the Energy Efficiency Fund. The funds will be transferred into the multi-donor fund as soon as an agreement is signed," she said.

Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Construction, and Housing, and Utility Services Hennadii Zubko stressed that the Energy Efficiency Fund was expected to begin working directly with associations of co-owners of apartment buildings in spring 2019.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the draft state budget for 2018 provides for allocating UAH 1.6 billion for financing the Energy Efficiency Fund.

The Ministry of Regional Development announced a competition for selecting independent members of the fund’s supervisory board on September 10.

The Energy Efficiency Fund, which is a state institution, was registered as a legal entity on July 24.

Yulia Holovatiuk-Ungureanu was appointed as the acting director of the fund.
