Poroshenko Puts Into Effect Decision Of NSDC To Extend Sanctions For Year Against Banks With Russian State Capital

President Petro Poroshenko put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to extend sanctions for a year against banks with Russian state capital.

This is stated in Presidential Decree No.57 of March 6, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Sanctions (preventing the withdrawal of capital outside Ukraine in favor of bank related persons) were introduced for a year against four banks: Sberbank PJSC Prominvestbank PJSC VTB Bank PJSC, BM Bank PJSC.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was instructed to inform the competent authorities of the European Union, the United States and other states about the imposition of sanctions, and to raise the issue of applying similar restrictive measures to them.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 16, 2017, Poroshenko, at the suggestion of the National Bank, put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to apply sanctions for five banks with Russian capital for a year, while in December 2017, VS Bank was bought by Ukrainian businessman Serhii Tihipko.
