NBU To Continue Raising Discount Rate If Inflation Risk Increases

The National Bank of Ukraine will continue raising its discount rate if the risk of inflation increases.

The National Bank of Ukraine's acting head Yakiv Smolii announced this at a press conference, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to him, the National Bank of Ukraine will continue raising its discount rate if inflation risks increase.

Smolii stressed that the existing monetary conditions are sufficiently tough to restrain price increases.

According to him, price stability is one of the main conditions for steady economic growth.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Bank of Ukraine raised its discount rate from 16% to 17% on March 1.
