The National Bank of Ukraine has raised the discount rate from 16% to 17%. The NBU has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports. In January, consumer inflation sped up to 14.1% year over year and thus exceeded the trajectory of the NBU's outlook posted in its January inflation report. In compliance with the preliminary estimations, high inflation rates remained in February as well. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 4, 2015, the NBU raised the discount rate from 19.5% to 30%. Then the NBU had several times retained the discount rate at 30%. On August 28, 2015, the central bank lowered the rate to 27% and on September 25, 2015 it lowered the rate to 22%. In January 2018, the NBU lowered the rate to 16%.
