This week (February 26 - March 2) the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO) intend to complete a criminal investigation into accusations brought against son of the Minister of the Interior Affairs Arsen Avakov, Oleksandr and former deputy Minister of the Interior Serhii Chebotar both suspected of embezzlement of the state funds during procurement of backpacks for the Interior Ministry and the National Guard.

The Ukrainian News Agency learnt this from a well-informed source in the NACB.

According to the source, this week the suspects will be invited to read the materials of the case.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in late October 2017, the NACB and SACPO detained Minister Avakov's son Oleksandr and Chebotar on the accusations of embezzling state funds during procurement of backpacks for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard.

Avakov's son and Chebotar have been served with court's papers under article 191 (embezzlement) and are being investigated for embezzlement of UAH 14 million.

On December 22, 2017, the court cancelled an obligation of wearing an electronic bracelet for Avakov's son Oleksandr.
