Lawyer: Russian Soldiers Baranov And Odintsov Most Likely To Be Exchanged For Ukrainians Arrested In Russia Soon

Convicted Russian military servicemen Alexander Baranov and Maxim Odintsov have said that they will most likely be exchanged for Ukrainians arrested in Russia in the near future.

Valentyn Rybin, the lawyer for the Russian military servicemen, announced this to the Ukrainian News Agency.

According to him, they will be exchanged for Ukrainians under arrest in Russia.

At the same time, the lawyer refused to specify whom the Russian military servicemen would be exchanged for.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, law enforcement officers detained Baranov and Odintsov, who are deserters from the Ukrainian army, on the administrative border between the Kherson region and the Crimea in November 2016.

A Kyiv court sentenced Baranov to 13 years in prison and Odintsov to 14 years in February 2018.

President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine is ready to exchange the arrested Russian military servicemen for the Ukrinform national news agency's journalist Roman Suschenko, who is under arrest in Russia.
