Foreign Ministry: UK Not Planning Visa Liberalization Talks With Ukraine Before Completion Of Brexit

The United Kingdom does not intend to hold talks with Ukraine on liberalization of the visa regime between the two countries before completion of the process of the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union.

The director of the Foreign Affairs Ministry's consular service department, Serhii Pohoreltsev, stated this in an interview with the European Pravda internet publication, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I think that the United Kingdom is not holding talks with us on visa liberalization because they have simply determined for themselves an algorithm that does not provide for such negotiations before resolution of the issue of membership of the EU... The current situation involving British visas is unlikely to change until March 2019, i.e. until the United Kingdom Britain completes its withdrawal from the EU," Pohoreltsev said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ukraine Judith Gough says the Ukrainian authorities can ask for a relaxed visa regime with the United Kingdom after the Brexit.
