Some unknown from the territory of Russia have fired on Ukrainian border guard officers in Luhansk region.

Press service of the Antiterrorist Operation (ATO) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Today at approximately 12:30 pm, near Ushakova populated area (Luhansk region) there was a small arms fire round made from the Russian territory in the direction of units protecting the state border of Ukraine. No military has been wounded. The fire was not opened in response," the statement said.

The ATO's headquarters stressed that this barrage from the adjacent territory is a flagrant violation of the state border and carries a threat to lives of state border guards.

The statement also reminded that a military has a right to use weapon when they are ordered to do so by higher authorities and also if this is necessary to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Deputy Minister of Justice / Authorized Person for matters of the European Court of Human Rights Ivan Lyschyna had stated that the Luhansk airport was destroyed by multiple strikes of Tochka tactical ballistic missiles launched from the territory of Russia in 2014.
