Court has approved detention of editor-in-chief of the Strana.ua online media Ihor Huzhva suspected of blackmailing.

Huzhva has written this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Besides, Huzhva assures that the Presidential Administration used its diplomatic channels to urge Austria to extradite him to Ukraine.

On February 5, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv collected UAH 1 million of a bail for Huzhva into the state budget.

Ukrainian News Agency learnt this from the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO).

The court will hold its next hearing on February 12.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Huzhva left Ukraine for Austria and asked for political asylum.

The PGO intended to ask the court to alter Huzhva's sentence for a stricter one and collect UAH 1 million of the bail from him.
