Migration Service's Decision Denying Political Asylum To Saakashvili Takes Effect

A court's decision that upheld the court's refusal to grant a political asylum to former President of Georgia / Leader of the New Forces Movement political party Mikheil Saakashvili has entered into force.

This was announced in a statement read by Judge of the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal Andrii Korotkykh, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The judge said that the court rejected an appeal from the Saakashvili's legal defense team and reiterated the ruling dated January 3 of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv that held lawful a refusal of the State Migration Service to grant a political asylum to Saakashvili.

The ruling became effective immediately after the appeal court announced its decision.
