Montenegro, Albania, Norway, and Ukraine have aligned themselves with the European Union's decision to extend its sanctions on Russia until July 31. This is stated in a declaration by the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain countries concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilizing the situation in Ukraine, the Ukrainian News Agency reports. "The candidate countries Montenegro and Albania, the EFTA country Norway, member of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine align themselves with this council decision," the declaration states. According to the declaration, these countries will ensure that their national policies conform to this decision by the Council of the European Union. The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it, the declaration states. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Council of the European Union decided on December 21, 2017, to extend the European Union's sanctions on Russia until July 31, 2018.
