The Secretariat of the Energy Community suggests prolongation of public service obligations for the natural gas market participants in Ukraine by a year, until April 1, 2019. This is said in draft resolution on introduction of public service obligations for natural gas market participants, Ukrainian News Agency reports. The document is offered by the Energy Community as possible replacement for the effective resolution 187. The draft document suggests abolishing obligations of the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company to buy out all gas from the UkrGasVydobuvannya public joint-stock company, the largest Ukrainian gas-producing company, and prolongation of public service obligations by a year. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in mid-January 2018, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine offered for discussion the draft resolution on public service obligations where the methodology of natural gas pricing for the population was revised in a way that envisions natural gas price rise of 8.3% from UAH 4,942 per thousand cubic meters to UAH 5,352 per thousand cubic meters (less taxes and transportation costs). Therefore, the end price is likely to reach UAH 7,999 per thousand cubic meters from current UAH 6,958 per thousand cubic meters. Such price may be in effect until April 1, 2019.
