Court Cancels Police Detective's Decision To Close Criminal Case On Fact Of Disappearance Of Ukrainian Citizen

Court Cancels Police Detective's Decision To Close Criminal Case On Fact Of Disappearance Of Ukrainian Citizen Hryb In Belarus

A Ukrainian court has ruled void a decision of a police detective to close a criminal case following disappearance of 19-year-old Ukrainian citizen Pavlo Hryb in Belarus in August 2017.

This is said in the court's ruling of January 18, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Pavlo Hryb's father challenged the decision of the police detective of December 26, 2017.

The criminal case was opened following disappearance of Pavlo Hryb in Belarus in August on article 115 (murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Pavlo Hryb's father believes that Ukrainian police have established circumstances that directly indicate that a crime was committed against his son foreseen by article 146 of the Criminal Code (kidnapping).

Pavlo Hryb's father wants police to change the qualification of the criminal case and to continue the investigation.

The court agreed with Pavlo Hryb's father and canceled the decision of the police detective to close a criminal case.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a Russian court has extended the arrest of 19-year-old Ukrainian citizen Pavlo Hryb, who was detained by Russian security operatives in Belarus, until March 4, 2018.
