Court In Russia Rejects Appeal From Legal Defense Of Ukrainian Journalist Suschenko On His Arrest Extension Until January 30

The Moscow City Court (the Russian Federation) has rejected an appeal from the legal defense team on prolongation of arrest of a Ukrainian journalist of the Ukrinform news agency, Roman Suschenko, until January 30.

Law of the journalist, Mark Feygin wrote this on Twitter, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Feygin filed an appeal on the court's decision on prolongation of the time in custody for Suschenko in late November 2017.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling for the international community, organizations for human rights and a representative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe for the matters of mass media freedoms to take all available measures to release Ukrainian journalist Suschenko arrested in Russia.

On September 30, 2016, Suschenko was arrested by the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) on suspicion of espionage.

FSB calls Suschenko a masked employee of the Main Department of the National Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The Ukrinform considered the Suschenko's arrest a provocation.
