On February 22, 2014, before fleeing Ukraine, former president Viktor Yanukovych held a meeting with Ukrainian businessman, Rinat Akhmetov, in Donetsk.
Staff member of the State Guard Service Viktor Reznychenko said this at the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Reznychenko testified before court that on February 21-23, 2014 he was accompanying Yanukovych as he ran from Ukraine.
According to Reznychenko, on February 22 Yanukovych landed in Donetsk and later on that day held meetings at his countryside residence.
Yanukovych remained at his Donetsk residence until February 22, 10 p.m., and then sat in an automobile that drove him in the direction of Crimea.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Reznychenko told the court that three Russian warplanes picked Yanukovych somewhere in Zaporizhia region and flown him to Crimea, on February 22-23, 2014.
On August 10, 2017, the court started hearing in substance the high treason case against Yanukovych.
