Poroshenko Liquidates Local Courts And Establishes District Courts

President Petro Poroshenko liquidated local courts and established district courts.

He announced this in Twitter, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Earlier, the High Council for Public Justice (HCPJ) approved the draft decree of Poroshenko on liquidation of 142 local and establishment of 74 district courts.

In particular, the project provides for the liquidation of 10 district courts in Kyiv (Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Obolonskyi, Pecherskyi, Podilskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi).

Instead of them the Central District Court of the city of Kyiv (instead of Pecherskyi and Holosiivskyi district courts), the Darnytskyi District Court (in Darnytsia district), the Dniprovskyi District Court (in Desnianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts), the Podilskyi District Court (in Obolonskyi and Podilskyi districts), the Solomianskyi District Court (in Sviatoshynskyi and Solomianskyi districts), Shevchenkivskyi District Court (in Shevchenkivskyi district) are establishing.

From January 1, 2018, the President will lose the right to liquidate and create courts.

These powers will be transferred to the Verkhovna Rada.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier advocates of activists of EuroMaidan asked Poroshenko not to liquidate the district courts in connection with the possible collapse of the judicial system.
