Court Administration: Sentence To Krysin For Involvement In Murder Of Journalist Veremiy Unclassified

A ruling of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv in which it sentenced leader of the paid anti-maidan protestors (titushky) Yurii Krysin to four years in suspended sentence for murder of journalist of Vesti newspaper Viyacheslav Veremiy has been unclassified.

The Ukrainian News Agency learnt this from the State Register of Court Rulings.

Previously the data in the register indicated that the court ruling under the lawsuit No.761/23886/14-к was classified and restricted from public access.

But after the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv's request, the wording of the ruling was disclosed to the public.

According to the wording of the court's ruling, the court established that Krysin, acting for a financial reward from an unidentified individual on February 17, 2014 agreed to stage a rally of paid protestors to haunt Euromaidan protestors.

On February 18, 2014, acting unpremeditatedly, out of hooliganism, beat with a baseball beat journalist Veremiy.

The court concluded that Krysin was unaware of the presence of the arms in the group of the paid protestors he had hired.

The court judgment also contains statements from Krysin in which he testified that he asked other assaulters not to touch Veremiy while he beat him on the face and the back.

Krysin paid other fake protestors each UAH 1,000 while he took USD 20,000 for his services.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 22, Judge of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv Oleh Lynnik sentenced Krysin to four years in suspended sentence for participation in murder of journalist Veremiy.

The prosecution team asked for six years in prison.

The court established that Krysin and other paid anti-maidan protestors on February 18, 2014 purportedly beat Veremiy with baseball beats, and in the process one of the assaulters shot at the journalist from firearms. The shot was lethal.

The court convicted Krysin on charges of hooliganism.
