Court Denies Saakashvili's Claim On Unlawfulness Of Extradition Study Conducted By Ministry Of Justice, Prosecutor's Office

The District Administrative Court of Kyiv has refused to accept a claim from former President of Georgia / Leader of the New Forces Movement political party Mikheil Saakashvili who claimed that the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor's Office had no right to conduct a study into grounds for his extradition on request of the authorities of Georgia.

Press service of the court has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In his claim Saakashvili demanded to rule unlawful actions of the Ministry of Justice on a request from the Prosecutor General's Office of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia prompting to search, arrest and extradite Saakashvili.

The plaintiff also called unlawful a study into his extradition that had been underway.

In addition, Saakashvili filed a lawsuit with the District Administrative Court to the State Migration Service accused by Saakashvili of unlawful delay in considering his complaint on refusal to grant asylum (for which first he must be acknowledged as a refugee or an individual who needs additional protection).

Currently the court considers opening a proceeding based on that claim.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the District Administrative Court of Kyiv rescheduled hearing a case on the refusal of the State Migration Service to accept an application for asylum from Saakashvili pushing it back for January 3.
