Former mayor of Slavyansk (Donetsk region) Nelia Shtepa has refused to enter the building of the Leninskyi District Court of Kharkiv to participate in the court trial.

A representative of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kharkiv region disclosed this to Ukrainian News Agency.

The next sitting of the court is scheduled for 12 p.m. on January 9, 2018.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 20, the Leninskyi District Court of Kharkiv changed a restrictive measure to Shtepa replacing her remanding with a house arrest and wearing an electronic tracking bracelet.

Shtepa is charged with crimes under Section 3, Article 110 (an attempt of infringement of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine resulting in human deaths or other grave consequences) and Section 1, Article 258-3 (creation of a terrorist group or organization) of the Penal Code.

On October 31, 2014, the Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv region handed over to court an indictment of Shtepa on the aforesaid counts.

On July 7, 2014, forces of the Antiterrorist Operation freed Shtepa from militant captivity.
