The Prosecutor's Office has stated that eight person who have been charged with separatism and crimes against national security have been freed in Odesa for an exchange of prisoners.
Press secretary of the Odesa Prosecutor's Office Inna Verba told the 112 Ukraine news channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, one of the freed persons was a citizen of Russia, Yevgeniy Mefedov suspected of organization of public unrests in Odesa on May 2, 2014.
All freed suspected will be exchanged for Ukrainian militaries kept by Russian-backed militant forces in the occupied Donbas.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Ukraine for delaying the process of prisoner exchange and called for swapping prisoners before the New Year and Christmas holidays.
