Member of parliament and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Financial Policy and Banking Serhii Rybalka discussed corruption and the sabotage of reforms in Ukraine with politicians, government officials and experts in Washington D.C.

Serhii Rybalka wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“Working in Washington D.C. Discussing topics of importance for Ukraine with American experts, politicians and government officials. At International Republican Institute (IRI), first of all, discussed the importance of tackling corruption and stopping the sabotage of reforms in Ukraine” he said.

According to the MP, corruption is “the biggest problem of our country”. “This opinion is not just mine, nor solely that of the American experts. The recent public opinion surveys conducted by IRI showed that Ukrainian citizens consider corruption a graver threat for our future than even the war in Donbas” Rybalka commented.

He says, without tackling corruption, Ukraine will not be able to implement effective reforms and grow properly. “We discussed concrete reforms critical for strengthening Ukraine’s financial system and stimulating economic development. Without those measures, we cannot expect an acceleration of economic growth” he added.

This is not the first time Rybalka is visiting Washington to discuss promotion of financial and economic reforms in Ukraine. Earlier, as the head of the parliamentary Committee on Financial Policy and Banking, he held several meetings with the leaders of the relevant committees at the Congress, IMF and a number of expert non-governmental organizations.
