49 Crimean Tatars Arrested In Crimea For Holding One-Person Protests Between August 16 And November 15

The Monitoring Mission of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights states that in the period of August 16 - November 15, 2017, a total of 49 Crimean Tatars were arrested for holding one-person protests in the territory of the Russia-annexed Crimea.

Head of United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Fiona Frazer said at the presentation of the 20th report of the Mission on the situation involving human rights in Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in November, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine condemned searches and detentions of Crimean Tatars and demanded that the Russian Federation stop persecutions of the Crimea's indigenous people.
