Finance Minister Danyliuk Predicts Another Criminal Case Against Him

Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk predicts that another criminal case will be opened against him.

He wrote this on his Facebook page, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The day before yesterday I receive a negative answer to my objections regarding the act of tax checks. This means I will receive a tax notification - this directly leads to a criminal case and opportunities for my opponents to carry out another attack on me...," he wrote.

According to him, this follows the Finance Ministry's introduction of transparent reimbursement of VAT, the refusal to increase the funding of prosecutors' offices, reform of the State Fiscal Service, his active position regarding liquidation of the tax police and creation of the Financial Investigation Service, etc.

"As I understood that the stable Finance Ministry is a guarantee of the financial stability of the country I tried not to make hard-hitting steps in response to the coordinated actions against me and my reputation. But there is a limit to everything, including my tolerance. I will not sacrifice my reputation and peace of my family," he wrote.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 4, 2017, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine opened a criminal case following a statement of an MP who accused Finance Minister Danyliuk of tax evasion.

One month later the criminal case was closed for absence of crime.

In early November, tax checks resumed soon after Finance Minister Danyliuk published information about abuses in the Kyiv city office of the State Fiscal Service.

Finance Minister Danyliuk said he was invited to a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada committee for tax policies with a report on offences with VAT.

He said the findings of the State Fiscal Service were biased and incompetent.
