Ukraine's Embassy in the Republic of Belarus has sent a note to the Foreign Ministry of Belarus to find out why the authorities arrested a Ukrainian businessman by the KGB of Belarus. "The Embassy of Ukraine in Belarus applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus with a note following information about arrest of a Ukrainian citizen who was with business purposes in that country. The Embassy requests to inform as soon as possible about reasons and circumstances of the arrest and conditions of detention of the Ukrainian citizen," he said. Vasyl Kyrylych, a representative of the consular service department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, announced this to Ukrainian News Agency. On Monday, the Livyi Bereh internet paper reported that the KGB of Belarus had arrested Oleksandr Skyba, the head of a Ukrainian enterprise based in Konstantinovka, Donetsk region. Skyba arrived in Minsk on November 15 and planned to fly back to Ukraine on the same day. However, he phoned to his wife in the morning of November 16 and to say he was arrested by officers of the KGB of Belarus. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the KGB of Belarus accuses Pavlo Sharoiko, a Ukrainian journalist working for the Ukrainian Radio, of espionage.
