Rada Cancels May 2 Holiday, Declares December 25 Day Off

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has canceled a holiday on May 2 and declared December 25 (Catholic Christmas) a day off.

A total of 238 parliamentary members backed respective bill No. 5496, when 226 votes enough to pass the decision, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Respective amendments have been introduced to the Labor Code of Ukraine.

The law will take effect the next day after President Petro Poroshenko signs it.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January 2016, President Petro Poroshenko excluded administrative transfer of Christmas celebrations for December 25.
