Prosecutors To Ask Court Arrest Property Of Avakov's Son

Prosecutors intend to ask a court to arrest property of Oleksandr Avakov, the son of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.

A source in law enforcement agencies said this to Ukrainian News Agency.

Oleksandr Avakov is suspected of embezzlement of UAH 14 million during procurement of backpacks for the National Guard.

"Of course, we will submit a motion on arrest of his property," the source said.

According to media reports, Oleksandr Avakov owns elite real estate in Kyiv, including a 375-square meter flat.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 1, the Solomiyanskyi District Court of Kyiv refused to arrest Interior Minister Arsen Avakov's son Oleksandr Avakov and let him go free on personal obligation.
