1,242 Citizens Killed By Fires Since January 2017

The State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine says 1,242 people have died as result of fires in the country since January 1, 2017.

The press service of the Emergency Situations Service announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Since January 1, the State Emergency Situations Service has registered 75,263 fires, including 25,435 fires at households, 1,716 fires at production facilities and offices, 3,223 fires at transport, 44,889 fires in other circumstances.

The State Emergency Situations Service has rescued 1,583 people. At the same time, 1,200 people were injured.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 20, the Cabinet of Ministers has allowed to conduct snap checks at schools, kindergartens, hospitals and other social objects for compliance with fire safety and technical safety rules.
