SBGS Confirms Increase In Number Of Ukrainians Leaving For Russia In 2017

The State Border Guard Service (SBGS) confirms an increase in the number of Ukrainians leaving for Russia in 2017.

SBGS chairperson Petro Tsyhykal said this in an interview with the Censor.net online media, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"In 2016, 4.1 million Ukrainian citizens traveled to Russia, in 2017, more - over 5.7 million," he said.

At the same time, in 2016 more than 1.5 million Russians moved into Ukraine, and in the current - 1.4 million

Tsyhykal hopes that from January 1, 2018, for citizens of the Russian Federation when entering Ukraine, biometric control will be applied, in particular, fingerprints.

For these purposes, the State Border Guard Service has already allocated UAH 300 million for the purchase of scanners, the arrangement of workplaces, the creation of an appropriate system.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, three Member of the Parliament propose to the Verkhovna Rada to introduce a ban on visiting Russia by Ukrainian officials.
