Poroshenko: Saakashvili Interested In Destabilizing Situation In Ukraine Through Protests

President Petro Poroshenko believes that former president of Georgia and leader of the Mikheil Saakashvili New Forces Movement party organized protests in Kyiv with the aim of destabilizing the situation in Ukraine.

Poroshenko stated this during a visit to a mobile border detachment of the State Border Guard Service in Bortnychi (Kyiv region).

Poroshenko reiterated his support for the right of citizens to protest and stressed that law enforcement officers have fulfilled the task of ensuring that the protests are peaceful.

According to Poroshenko, the organizers of the protests hoped to destabilize the situation in Ukraine with weapons for the benefit of Russia because do not have the support of Ukrainian citizens.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, about 150 activists continue the protests near the parliament building on Friday. They are calling for abolition of parliamentary immunity, establishment of an anti-corruption court, and amendment of the election legislation.
