Court Arrests Driver Of Car That Killed 6 Pedestrians In Kharkiv

The court has arrested a 20-years old woman who was behind the wheel of a car that killed six pedestrians on October 18 in Kharkiv.

Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov wrote this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to Avakov, the accident already resulted in the deaths of six people, other five people including one pregnant woman are battling for lives in hospital.

Six people killed and five were hospitalized after an accident in Kharkiv that involved a car crashed into a crowd of people on a street.

Press service of the Main Department of the National Police has said this in a statement posted on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to preliminary data, five citizens were killed, six got injures of varying severity.

Currently, two injured victims - young ladies - are in critical state in hospital.

Law enforcers established that a Lexus driver, a young woman, was driving along Sumska street in the direction of a theater.

Another car, a Volkswagen, was driving up on Bursatskyi descent, when the collision occurred.

Lexus crashed into Volkswagen and from the impact was thrown into a crowd of people on a pedestrian area.

Law enforcers detained a woman, driver of Lexus that rammed into the crowd.

Law enforcers opened a criminal proceeding under Section 3. Article 286 (breaking road safety rules by individuals driving transport vehicles) of the Penal Code.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote on Facebook that six people were killed and five were hospitalized with severe injuries.

Pregnant woman is among the hospitalized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the car crashed into the crowd of people in Kharkiv.
