Cabinet Severs Agreement With Russia On Maintaining Enterprises Involved In Military Production

The Cabinet of Ministers has terminated an intergovernmental agreement with the Russian Federation on maintaining specialized enterprises engaged in manufacturing of military products.

The Cabinet took the relevant decision at its Wednesday meeting, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The agreement was signed in Moscow (the Russian Federation) on December 21, 2000 and took effect on March 4, 2005.

Under the agreement, the sides agreed to maintain a production and scientific-research base of enterprises engaged in design, development, manufacturing and testing of military and defense equipment, provision of military and defense services and supply of materials, commodities and parts for the aforesaid purposes.

At the same time, article 10 of the agreement provides that termination of the agreement does not relieve the parties from responsibilities under agreements (contracts) entered into while the agreement was in effect, unless the parties agree otherwise.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in August, the Cabinet terminated an intergovernmental agreement with Russia on the order of cooperation during export of military goods (products) to third countries.
