Border Guard Service Decides To Limit Consultative Meetings With Russians After Kidnapping Of 2 Ukrainian Officers In Sumy Region

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has decided to limit the number of consultative meetings with Russians as two Ukrainian officers were kidnapped in Sumy region on October 3.

Petro Tsyhykal, chairperson of the State Border Guard Service, said this to Ukrainian News Agency.

He says consultative meetings of border guards of neighboring countries is a routine international practice, but in the view of unpredictable actions of Russia the State Border Guard Service has decided to limit their number.

"We have decided to limit the meetings by the level of leaders (of state border guard services) to save less trained personnel," he said.

According to him, Russians captured two Ukrainian officers during a consultative meeting.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a Russian court in Briansk region has ordered arrest of two Ukrainian border guards from the Sumy unit of the State Border Guard Service, who went missing on the border with Russia on October 3.
