The Security Service of Ukraine exposes mass attempts of the Russian secret services to recruit Ukrainian citizens. The press service of the SBU announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports. The statement reads that officers of the SBU have uncovered Russian secret services attempting to recruit a resident of Chernihiv region. The SBU officers have established that the Ukrainian citizen illegally worked in Russia and "came in sight" of Russian secret services and was forced to cooperate with them. "Threatening criminal persecution for illegal employment, FSB representatives forced the migrant worker to return to Ukraine in order to collect data regarding the size of Ukrainian military units and quantities of hardware located in regions bordering with Russia," reads the statement. On returning to Ukraine, the Ukrainian citizen immediately contacted the SBU officers, providing the information on his recruitment by the foreign secret services. "The Security Service of Ukraine calls on Ukrainian residents to avoid visits to Russia due to the growing number of recruitment attempts by Russian secret services," reads the statement. Considering the fact that the resident of Chernihiv region did not execute the criminal order of foreign secret services and voluntarily informed state authority about his contact and the received order, the court granted petition of the investigative authorities and relieved the man from criminal responsibility. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the SBU arrested an employee of the Kherson regional office of the SBU on suspicion of work for the FSB of Russia.
